Carla Zaccagnini
[Buenos Aires, 1972. Lives and works in São Paulo]
In her work, Carla Zaccagnini develops themes such as the impossibility of translation, the partiality of the perspective of the museum, the flaws in perception, the limits of scientific knowledge, and others, producing a multifaceted oeuvre that seeks to activate the viewer’s vision and disconcert his/her understanding. Since the 1990s, she has been working with activities as an art critic, curator and docent in parallel with her artistic practice. She participated in the 28th Bienal de São Paulo (2008) and the Bienal del Fin del Mundo de Ushiaia, Argentina (2007). Her work has been featured in shows held at various international institutions, such as MUSAC, in León, Spain; LentSpace, in New York, USA; the Museu de Arte Moderna Aloísio Magalhães, in Recife, Brazil; and Kunstverein Munique, in Germany. She has participated in various artists-in-residence programs, including at Air Antwerp, Belgium; HIAP, Finland; and IASPIS, Sweden.
